A Study on Health Status of the Place of Work



Abstract
This is a report of the Health status and Sanitary facilities survey for the employees in ithe establishments and was conducted during the period of July to October, 1964 on 1,463 establishments.
In this report, the classifications of establishments was picked out among the patterns of Korea standard industrial classification by the statistics bureau of Ministry of Economic Planning Board.
The working places employing more than 30 workers have been covered by this report.
1. 70.0% of the total establishments had less than 10 persons (small scale establishment), and 59.7% of the total workers had in male and 40.3% in female.
2. Among of the total worker, 40.0% worked at the establishments employing form 10 to 499 persons, 26.1% of more than 1,000 persons and 17.0% of from 50 to 99 persons.
3. It showed that textile industries were 21.6% transport, storage and communications 10.9%; and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products 7.4% among the total of esstablishments.
4. Among the total, one person to an establishment was appointed as a safety manager, and 12.9% of the total had safety committees and 53.6% of safety educations.
5. Among the total, 0.5 persons to an establishments was appointed to the industrial physician, 0.3 industrialsanitarians and 0.4 nurses, and 16.0% of the total had dispensary facilities, 10.0% of treatment room, 17.0% of inpatient room, 2.0% of X-ray.
6. 83.0% of the total establishments had physical check-up regularly and 75.0% has contracted hospital.
7. Pipe water stopple had 5 units to an establishment, 1.3 units of well water.
8. 41.1% of the total had flush toilet system, 34.8% of lavatory and 24.1% of lavatory which have disintegrated barrel.
9. 20.0% of the total had dining room, 32.0% of entertainment facilities, 5.0% of barber shop, 40.0% of bath room.
